The primary purpose of this position is: Close involvement with the community leaders to create programs that the community wants and facilitate the planning, resources, and cooperation of the community, in carrying out those programs.
Duties
Work within the community to determine community and interests and facilitate teambuilding among the various agencies.
Work with the base community and the local community to being programming and events into the community center.
Works in effective partnership with all Family Member Support agencies to support Flight programs, events, and provides expertise to enhance success of those programs.
Works in the facility as a facility manager. Handles cash and redemption merchandise. Manages amusement machines, does minor maintenance of machines, and orders materials, supplies, and equipment for the facility.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Recreation Specialist, Series 0188.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in federal service which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position being filled. Specialized experience includes the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs; planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels; instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management; or serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations. Determining community and interest to facilitate team building among various agencies.
OR
EDUCATION: Successfully completed one full academic year of graduate-level education with a major study in general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation. OR I have a bachelor's degree. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Have professional knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of social recreation.
2. Skill in providing coordination, cooperation, training, and guidance to staff, teen, and adult groups.
3. Skill in budgeting for events and creating successful financial results.
4. Skill in working cooperatively with groups and community leaders.
5. Possess good communication skills and effective team working skills.
6. Skill in operating a business successfully and providing customer service. Possess Leadership and motivational skills.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
