The Social Science Program Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of Whole Health Coaching and skill development of the local Medical Center's Whole Health Coach program, including provision of care through coaching and promotion and education regarding Whole Health Coaching to Veterans and staff. The position is location at the Lincoln VA Clinic of the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care under the Nursing Service Line.

The Social Science Program Coordinator provides care to Veterans seeking self-directed, lasting changes aligned with their values and interventions that promote health and wellness and enhance well-being, improve health related outcomes, reduce likelihood of inpatient admission, and improve quality of life. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/03/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Degree: Behavioral or Social Science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience for the GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: supporting clients in mobilizing internal strengths and external resources and develops self-management strategies for making sustainable, healthy lifestyle behavior changes and more effectively managing chronic disease; facilitating and empowering the client to develop and achieve self-determined goals related to health and wellness; conducting interventions that lead to improved functioning, decreased probability of deterioration or admission, and enhanced quality of life; Providing follow-up care through telephone clinics or secure messaging between face-to-face appointments; Conducting outreach activities to inform Veterans and family members of available programs. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement.NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of education and experience that provided you with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Regular and recurring work is mostly sedentary involving sitting at a desk, although the position requires the ability to move from one geographic location of the facility to another. Some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending or prolonged sitting may be required. The work places no special physical demands on the employee.
