About the Position: The mission of the CCAD is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, chemical, metallurgical and training support.

Duties

Repair, modify, overhaul, reassemble, test, and troubleshoot aircraft transmissions, and gear boxes. Review historical records, physical condition, and appearance of units inducted for overhaul. Determine whether to rework or replace parts that exceed allowable wear thresholds. Work with journeyman repairer conducting performance and endurance tests and lubrication runs of transmissions/gear boxes in test cells. Log results of test and compares to prescribed specifications.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • This position requires a Tier 1 personnel security background investigation.

Is required to lift, reach, bend, walk, pull, push, sit, and stand for prolonged periods of time. WORKING CONDITIONS: Usually performs work inside areas that are adequately lighted, ventilated, and heated. Is frequently exposed to loud noise from the movement of machinery and test equipment; to the possibility of cuts, burns, strains, electrical shock, and abrasions from handling equipment or from moving parts of machinery; and to unpleasant conditions from dirt, solvents, fuel, toxic fumes, grease, and gases. Floor surfaces may be wet, oily, or slippery. Various protective devices such as earplugs, face shields, gloves, and safety glasses are used. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of the position.
