The Clinical Informatics Data Coordinator works in the Clinical Informatics Section the Central Virginia Healthcare System (CVHCS). Will assist in the management of complex analytics projects requiring excellent Data Management skills that include workflow analysis (clinical and administrative), communication and information sharing technologies, and provide guidance to leadership to effect improvements in mission effectiveness.

Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Data Management
Provides relevant clinical and/or administrative data to identify, quantify, and resolve organizational problems. Integrates data software applications for clinical services by: (1) evaluating the unique needs of the specific clinical services in conjunction with the capabilities of the software and coordinating any required modifications; (2) reviewing the effectiveness of the systems and procedures to assure optimum benefit to patient care activities; and (3) troubleshooting when functionality is compromised by determining the cause of and/or the solution to the problem.
Effectively and efficiently manages multiple competing priorities.
Responsible for interpreting internal and external reports; assessing their application· and how it relates and impacts the Medical Center service lines. The individual must have intimate knowledge and use of the VHA data repositories such as: OQP, VSSC, Allocation Resource Center (ARC), Decision Support Service (DSS), Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA), Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW), Inpatient Evaluation Center (IPEC), and Chief Business Office (CBO).
Proactively works with clinical services and informatics to identify needs and develop products to meet those needs. He/she evaluates the information and makes recommendations for effective organizational changes, including those related to the collection, standardization, analysis of information, expandability, maintenance, and ease of use. Through the use and management of SharePoint, the individual gathers, monitors, and maintains a directory of reports circulating through the Medical Center, VISN, and VACO.
Coordinates focus groups and acts as a liaison between Data Analytics and end users. In this role, the incumbent uses their knowledge of both groups to bridge the communication between end user and developer to ensure that ideas and feedback are understood.
Training
Plans, develops and conducts formal training relevant, but not limited to workload, clinical and financial reporting in data validation, and how to utilize data and reports.
Provides training to staff interested in learning basic to advanced skills and utilizing the information/documents sharing.
Prepares comprehensive documentation regarding data produced and trainings related to data mining, auditing and information/document sharing platform.
Provides training on preparation of documentation/presentations for the Executive Leadership based on the analysis and/or data warehouse reports.
Regarded as a Medical Center subject matter expert for OQP, VSSC, local clinical registries, and data warehouse data.
Works independently and responds to requests for information and support from Senior Management, Service Chiefs, and support staff.
Responsible for development and maintenance of Microsoft SharePoint Online tools to facilitate training sessions, gather training feedback, track attendance and competency evaluations, and host educational materials.
Develop, maintain, curate, and publish a repository of educational materials related to clinical analytics and related clinical data sources and information systems on the SharePoint Informatics site.
Dissemination of Findings
Presents findings and recommendations in reports to internal and external stakeholders and senior executive leadership in comprehensive project reports that incorporate user-friendly data displays, detailed methodology and validation of findings.
Lead in authoring significant findings in manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and/or presentation at national and international conferences to influence and develop the field of clinical informatics while promoting local innovation.
Work Schedule: M-F, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Compressed/Flexible) Work hours may vary depending on department need.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/04/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must meet one of the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M. if related that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of successfully completed education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. Only education in excess of a master's or equivalent graduate education may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-11 level. NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required.
