You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the Systems Engineering Department, Platform Stores Integration Branch in NAWCAD of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. The position will lead engineering efforts supporting planning, coordination, development and evaluation of all weapon integration software tasking for mission planning, integration and certification of weapons and stores designated for the F-35A/B/C air system.

Duties

You will oversee aircraft/weapon integration software-related activities for compliance with F-35 requirements documents and best software engineering practices. You will provide software system engineering support for development, integration and verification for all weapon and store related functionality including advanced development, mission system/mission planning integration and continued sustainment. You will monitor, evaluate and certify software products that mechanization of weapon/store functionality implemented in aircraft and mission planning software supports warfighter requirements. You will serve as voting member and JPO representative in Joint Interface Control Document meetings in the development of new ICDs and/or changes in the ICDs between the aircraft and weapon. You will review fleet flight clearances and flight clearance-related documentation as requested in the area of Stores Function and provide changes/recommendations to the JPO Weapon Certification Subject Matter Experts for USAF/USN. You will represent the F-35 Weapons and Advanced Development IPTs for software/store function at mission systems, mission planning and capability integration technical reviews and systems engineering meetings as required. This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13/14 grade level or pay band DP-04 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 through GS-13 or pay band DP-04 in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional GENERAL ENGINEER. (1) Developing and executing sound systems engineering strategies and processes. (2) Planning and executing all required certifications to include Cybersecurity, Laser Safety, Lithium Battery safety, spectrum, JITC, AIMS, etc. (3) Coordinating with commodity PMAs for planning, modifying, testing and certifying new capabilities. (4) Providing input to flight test planning and ensure inputs align with TAEs/SMEs data requirements. (5) Managing and coordinating the technical planning, budgeting, scheduling, and evaluation aspects of proposed and authorized in-service aircraft and aircraft equipment product improvement efforts, including the Operational Safety Improvement Program. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
