About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Special Operations Command - South Operations Directorate (SOCSO-J3), Homestead, Florida.

Duties

Serves as an Intelligence Specialist for Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH), Special Activities Division within the Operations Directorate. Manages various disciplines that impact Homeland Security, protection of US interests abroad, and the supports the employment and protection of US military forces. Performs wide-ranging geostrategic research and analysis projects encompassing geopolitics and globalization in economics, technology. Conducts all-source intelligence analysis on conventional and asymmetric threats to U.S. interests worldwide. Serves as the SOCSOUTH senior intelligence representative in the SOCSOUTH J3X. Provides current intelligence updates and analysis on foreign and domestic threats.

Requirements

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Position requires Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) within and outside CONUS up to 25% of the time.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial period may be required.

This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
