Duties

As a Mission Support Specialist, at the full performance level, you will perform the following duties: Apply and modify established practices to specific administrative problems that involve many variables. Conduct independent evaluations on administrative functions and prepare study findings, recommendations, and reports. Perform liaison functions with other organizations and establishing harmonious working relations with counterparts.

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Performing a wide variety of administrative and management services essential to the operations of the office including, but not limited to budget, management analysis, human resources management, training, logistics/procurement, safety, telecommunications, space, records and files, mail, travel, fleet, and asset management; Providing administrative support assistance in any administrative specialty to staff, managers, analysts, or similar; Responding to non-routine questions about administrative procedures. OR Education: A successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a LL.B/J.D., if related. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience as described in A above that totals 100% of the requirement. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Coordinating and monitoring a variety of administrative and management services essential to the operations of the office including, but not limited to budget, management analysis, human resources management, training, logistics/procurement, and safety, telecommunications, space, records and files, mail, travel, fleet, and asset management; Providing management advisory services on any administrative specialty; Analyzing administrative data from a variety of sources to develop trends, patterns, profiles, estimates and studies; Preparing preliminary and final reports and documents. OR Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a LL.M., if related. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and activities necessary to do the work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience as described in A above that totals at least one year . Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
