Duties

Joining the Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, will allow you to use your expertise in administration to lead the development and implementation of key support processes for the organization. This position starts at a salary of $142,094.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $184,725.00 (GS-14, Step 10). In this Deputy Assistant Director, Field Operations (Mission Support) position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals by participating with Office of Field Operations officials in the review and appraisal of major policy issues and in the establishment of goals and objectives. Typical work assignments include: Advising the ADFO (Assistant Director, Field Operations), and other managers on key support processes. Developing and implementing short- and long-term plans to improve the delivery of services, to add new services, delete services not needed, and to upgrade facilities to assure the best possible service is provided. Ensuring the implementation of national financial policies and integration with other operational processes. Leading the development and implementation of effective and responsive human resources management, training, labor and employee relations, and public affairs programs. Evaluating subordinate supervisors or team leaders and is the reviewing official on evaluation of non-supervisory employees related by subordinate supervisors.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Overseeing the execution of budget, logistics, procurement, and quality assurance programs Developing, evaluating, and improving financial policy, plans, and processes and providing the ADFO with feedback on well these processes serve key field managers Leading and directing the resolution, implementation, and coordination of corrective actions Providing a full range of supervisory functions for a staff that provides a diverse range of mission support services Setting priorities and schedules for completion and assigning work to direct reports NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/02/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
