Duties
The incumbent serves as the managing editor for The Coast Guard’s Journal of Safety & Security at Sea: Proceedings of the Marine Safety & Security Council, a print publication, and its digital components.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Time-in-grade requirements must be met by closing date.
- A one year probationary period maybe required.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-12:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Serving as the executive editor of Proceedings of the Marine Safety & Security Council; serving as a writer-editor along with a staff of editorial and media specialists to carry out the missions, duties, and assignments of the Deputy Commandant for Operations; advising the commandand the program in planning, developing and implementing a global publications program concerning the program's activities, decisions; preparing statements of work force contracts that are up-to-date, responsive to need, properly prepared, and routed through proper channels to acquisition officials in a timely manner in order to have the disruption in production; responding to a wide variety of routine requests from the media, the public, and industry for information on both technical and policy aspect of the program's activity's, goals, and objectives.There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
