The Supervisory Human Resources Specialist is responsible for the HR operations of Department of Justice Offices/Boards and the Justice Management and National Security Divisions. The incumbent of this position supervises a staff providing HR services related to payroll/personnel processing services.

As a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (GS-0201-14), your typical work assignments or responsibilities may include the following: Supervise a staff of HR specialists in the full range of HR operations work related to payroll and personnel action processing. Provide authoritative guidance on processing payroll and personnel actions. Develop solutions to complicated, complex or non-standard problems related to the assigned HR specialty areas. Take a lead role in planning and implementing human resources management projects. Develop Standard Operating Procedures to be used by HR specialists and administrative HR liaisons in DOJ serviced organizations. Provide guidance and direction to management officials and administrative staff in interpreting and explaining statutory and regulatory information. Develop and implement automation and technology strategies for payroll/personnel action processing.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Supervisory Human Resources Specialist at (GS-0201-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). You must have at least one year of Specialized Experience at the GS-13 grade level performing the following: 1) Providing human resources advisory services related to time and attendance, payroll and personnel action processing; 2) Utilizing automated human resources personnel action processing tools and systems, such as NFC's EmpowHR, OPM's eOPF and WebTA; and 3) Developing and providing training on payroll and personnel action processing. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including Time-in-Grade, by the closing date of this announcement, 04/04/2024.
