You will serve as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic within NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Duties

You will install refrigerant lines, air and water lines, controlling devices and associated equipment. You will use gas welding equipment for high and low temperature brazing, soldering or sweating. You will evacuate the system of air and moisture to at least 500 microns by using a vacuum pump and gauge to observe results. You will use all types of compressors such as reciprocating, centrifugal, rotary and hermetic and open type compressors.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • You will frequently handle weights up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • The work requires frequent kneeling, crouching and stooping.
  • You will work from ladders and scaffolds and in strained and awkward positions.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision: installing, repairing, modifying, maintaining or troubleshooting air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
