Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary (OS), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs (ASIIA), Ocean, Great Lakes, and Coastal Program (OGLCP), in Washington, DC. At the full performance level (GS-13) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1) Works with the Ocean, Great Lakes, and Coastal Program (OGLCP) team to actively identify, plan, and execute communications programs for OGLCP and Secretarial/Departmental priorities, including providing research and analysis related to OGLCP priorities and activities. 2) Formulates communications plans, strategies, and campaigns to further the goals OGLCP and manages the development and dissemination of internal and external communications products to support the goals and objectives of the program. 3) Conceptualizes, develops, writes, updates, and edits products for print, online, and broadcast. 4) Oversees and coordinates with the Office of Communications and DOI Bureaus in the development of OGLCP website information and content designed to disseminate information to key internal and external audiences. 5) Participates on multiple interagency work group communications efforts to represent DOI and ensure DOI's role is accurately represented. 6) Tracks ongoing administration priorities and activities. OS has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. The work is primarily performed in an office setting or at a telework location that is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. Some work may be performed in an audiovisual studio, outdoors at National Wildlife Refuges, National Parks, other Interior lands, or other field settings, like schools. Salary Information GS-12: $99,200 - $128,956 GS-13: $117,962 - $153,354 First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available. This vacancy is also announced as OS-1500-24-CM-079(DEU) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Competitive Examining procedures.

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying. Specialized Experience: GS-12 To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) providing input for media outreach plans and/or communication strategies; 2) drafting written copy for approval; 3) creating informational material using both written and graphic content; and 4) interacting with varying levels of management to respond to technical questions. MUST MEET ALL. GS-13 To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) developing media outreach plans and communication strategies; 2) preparing media-ready materials for print, online, and/or broadcast through writing, editing, and tailoring written copy; 3) developing products to create newsletters, websites, news releases, display graphics, and/or social media content; and 4) interacting with agency executives, managers, and staff for the purpose of developing and implementing communication strategies.
