About the Position: This position is located within the US Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, Command Element, Office of the Chief of Staff, G37 Clarke Library, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the South-Central Missouri. The Fort is located in Pulaski County outside of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a two-hour drive to the east along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the west of Ft. Leonard Wood.

Duties

The duties of this position are for the full performance level. The duties at the GS-07grade level are the same but with closer than normal supervision. Serve as Systems/ Reference Librarian. Provide comprehensive reference, research and information services. Perform on-line searches using automated information resources to include commercial databases, and the internet using appropriate research retrieval methods, and formulating strategies through interview with users. Arrange and process digital and print collections. Research and prepare bibliographies, brief guides, informational brochures and specialized lists.

AND Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job you may qualify at the GS-09 level if your education meets the definitions below: Specialized Experience at the GS-09 level: To qualify based on your specialized experience, your resume must include at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work of the job. One year of specialized experience that demonstrates the knowledge of the subject of the position and the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: providing research and reference services to library patrons; processing digital and printed collections for use in research; preparing bibliographies; and providing technical advice to library staff and users. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Education Substitution: You must have two full years of progressively higher level graduate education or a Master's in library science or equivalent graduate degree, e.g., LL.B. or J.D., related to the position from an accredited college or university. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: You must have the specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and you must have more than one year but less than the required education described above. You must compute the percentage of the requirements that you meet, and your total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education over one year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceManages and Organizes InformationResearch Time in Grade Requirement for GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Time in Grade Requirement for GS-09: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
