About the Position: This position is located at the Bruce C Clark Library at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Ft. Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. It covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Ft. Leonard Wood.

Duties

Works under the general supervision of the director who provides general policy guidance, availability of resources, outlines program objectives, and assigns special projects. The librarian independently plans workflow, establishes priorities, and determines approach and methodology. Exercises considerable discretion and judgment concerning the interpretation and implementation of existing policy and in making analytical and technical decisions that lead to, or form the basis for, major library policy and operational decisions by the Bruce C. Clarke leadership. Work is evaluated in terms of patron satisfaction, execution of library operations, and meeting overall Bruce C. Clarke Library objectives and missions. Performs comprehensive reference services and literature searches for users. Performs comprehensive reference services and literature searches for users. Manages marketing program including outreach and publicity programs and special events such as exhibits of new materials, specialized bibliographies, commemorative events, or support programs. Serves as the professional responsible for the acquisition, development, management, preservation, and conservation of materials for the reference, special collections, and document sections of the library. Performs staff assignments related to the program planning or coordination of technical and public services, with emphasis on reference and research for an academic library. Provides advice to decision makers in setting program goals and establishing priorities to support the organizational mission. Recommends and drafts organizational policy and procedures for implementation of guidance from higher level authority and provides advantages and disadvantages of different approaches.

To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services. Specialized Experience Requirement: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) wide range of duties in library research and referral; (2) plan, implement and manage computer resources supporting academic, research and references needed of clientele; (3) manage a marketing program to include outreach and publicity programs; (4) maintain the acquisition and preservation of materials for the reference, special collections and document sections of the library. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Manages and Organizes InformationMarketingResearchTechnology Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
