This is a temporary NTE 13 months and will not be made permanent. About this Position: This position is for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District, Technical Design Section provides structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services and expertise to support flood risk management, navigation, and ecosystem restoration projects.

Duties

Direct the accomplishment of analyses, design studies, layouts, and designs on features for navigation, flood control, vertical construction and related projects. Provide technical advice on structural, electrical and mechanical engineering design and supervisor design computations. Plan and assign work of subordinates, set and adjust short term priorities and prepares schedule for work completion. Evaluate work performances and counsels employees on work and administrative matters. Coordinate development of structural, mechanical, and electrical designs and drawings required for projects. Oversee development of designs, plans and specifications for difficult mechanical and electrical systems containing unusual features. Advise others concerning electrical and mechanical design problems. Function as an authority on structural, electrical, mechanical engineering and architectural design matters within the agency.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: DesignLeadershipTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS-12)
