You will serve as a Principle Engineer/Scientist in the Theater USW C5I Systems Division, Unmanned & Theater USW Systems Department, at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport Division (NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA). This position serves as Principle Engineer/Scientist for the Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Operations Center (UUV OC) program.
Duties
You will work closely with program office personnel and external activity performers in establishing technical requirements, implementation of capabilities and delivery of new systems and capabilities to the fleet.
You will author and oversee the creation and documentation of technical processes and requirements for the program.
You will provide technical expertise and mentoring to a team of systems engineers and systems administrators who operate and manage the Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Operations Center in the division.
You will work directly with program office personnel and uniform fleet operators who are stakeholders in the Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Operations Center.
You will also represent the division on any other future programs or projects associated with Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Operations Center or unmanned undersea systems being executed by the division.
You will develop strategies for standardization and compliance across organizational units.
You will provide mentoring and technical direction and guidance in systems engineering, project management and integrated logistics support.
You will formulate guide, mentor and direct analytical studies to develop strategies for achieving approved long range objectives in systems performance and in advancing test and evaluation technologies, methodologies and concepts.
You will provide oversight to Division technical staff assuring alignment with Navy standards ensuring implementation of Open Architecture and other best practices for hardware and software engineering.
You will maintain qualifications and oversee process execution to ensure programmatic compliance.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade pay band ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalency), in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer or scientist implementing technical and engineering policies to collaboratively establish new requirements for hardware and software engineering while assuring the project and department are meeting their goals.

Professional Engineer Series, 0801:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Professional Computer Science Series, 1550:
Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
