This position is located in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation (ISN), Office of the Assistant Secretary (OAS). ISN leads U.S. efforts to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction (nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons), their delivery systems, and destabilizing conventional weapons to States and non-State actors such as terrorist groups.
Duties
Oversees the composition of meetings of Policy Coordination Committees (PCCs), sub PCCs, other types of Secure Video teleconferences (SVTCs), which require thorough familiarity with the plans and programs of ISN requirements and its principals.
Provides orientation, advice, and assistance to incoming Special/Staff Assistants, Chiefs of Staff, and other new Front Office (FO) employees with regard to the responsibilities and operations of the ISN/FO.
Gathers information and reference materials, identifies and analyzes issues, and develops recommendations to resolve problems in relation to the project at hand.
Keeps abreast of new policies, procedures, regulations, directives, etc. that impact the efficiency of ISN/FO operations.
Prepares talking points, briefings and other written products to inform Bureau leadership of issue status, process flaws, and effective alternatives.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience analyzing policy and program papers to ensure consistency with established guidance and commitments.
Experience utilizing knowledge of global issues to compile information for the use of Principals and Senior Staff.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
