About the Position: This is a Tractor Operator, WG-5705-7, position with the Army Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM) Anniston Army Depot Directorate of Public Works, Maintenance Branch, Roads and Grounds Section located at Anniston Army Depot, Alabama.
This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. It is time limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.
Duties
Operate, adjust, and shutdown a high-pressure boiler to produce the required amount of steam to meet production needs and heating requirements.
Make minor repairs to boiler equipment in order to maintain an adequate amount of steam pressure to keep up with production needs.
Make on the spot decisions about steps needed to assure the safe operation of the plant.
Collect samples, run test, and determine chemical content in water to make necessary adjustment in order to control corrosion and scale formation in the Distribution system.
Analyze and interpret data in order to make repair or adjustment and determine work requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Alabama driver license.
- In accordance with Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) 690-24 employee is subject to being on call to cope with emergency situations.
- Federal Wage System employees, Wage Grade (WG)/Wage Lead (WL)/Wage Supervisor (WS) etc., must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Tractor Operator~ without more than normal supervision. common operations of a 60 horsepower and above farm type tractor with attached batwing style cutters. I am skilled in performing ground maintenance and general maintenance and general laborer duties. Observe tasks at a journeyman level to observe task in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical effort: Light to moderate physical effort while performing duties such as operating tractors and uncoupling and making couplings between tractors and towed vehicles. The work requires frequent stooping, bending, reaching, and arm and leg movement to operate tractor controls. Operators frequently lift and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. May be required to move heavier items with assistance from other workers or mechanical lifting devices.
Working Conditions: Operators may be required to maneuver vehicles/tractors over dangerous slopes, rough terrains and in heavily congested areas. They are subject to drafts, noise, and varying temperatures inside. Exposure to weather and temperature extremes outside, as well as high noise levels, vibrations, and jolts from the tractor and towed equipment. Also exposed to dust, grease, and fumes. The wear protective clothing and devices as required such as respirator, goggles, mask, coveralls, safety shoes, ear plugs, glasses, gloves, etc.
