This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: *THESE POSITIONS ARE BEING ADVERTISED THROUGH THE DIRECT-HIRE AUTHORITY (DHA) FOR Temporary Appointment to Meet Critical Hiring Needs in the Department of Defense. * These positions are a temporary position not to exceed 120 days but MAY be extended up to 18 months.

Duties

Operate a riding mower and/or a small tractor in mowing and grounds maintenance work. Perform various tasks in support of buildings and grounds upkeep to include mowing, raking, area police, etc. Assists in and directs loading and unloading vehicles and is responsible for proper distribution of weight and tying down load to prevent damage to material or truck while in transit.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Tractor Operator~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common operation of a field type tractor and attached or towed mower or cutter bar, operate a riding lawn mower and work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Physical effort: Light to moderate physical effort while performing duties such as operating tractors and uncoupling and making couplings between tractors and towed vehicles. The work requires frequent stooping, bending, reaching, and arm and leg movement to operate tractor controls. Operators frequently lift and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. May be required to move heavier items with assistance from other workers or mechanical lifting devices. Working Conditions: Operators may be required to maneuver vehicles/tractors over dangerous slopes, rough terrains and heavily congested areas. Operators are subject to drafts, noise, and varying temperatures inside. Exposure to weather and temperatures extremes outside, as well as high noise levels, vibrations, and jolts from the tractor and towed equipment. Operators are exposed to dust, grease, and fumes.
