Duties

In this Mission Support Specialist (Generalist) position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security individuals involved in planning and carrying out a wide variety of administrative, management and program planning activities, policy research and other duties related to the missions and functions of the Mission Readiness Operations Division. This position starts at a salary of $49,025.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $77,955.00 (GS-09, Step 10) with promotion potential to$77,955.00 (GS-9 Step 10). Typical duties of this assignment include: Processing lost, stolen, destroyed, or missing personal property. Providing supports in the processing of damaged vehicles and the scheduling of repairs. Providing assistance with the local agency's fleet card program to include ordering cards, performing audits, extracting reports, reconciling invoices, reporting fraud and processing override requests. Coordinating facility repairs and ensuring that requests for such are recorded into the facilities management system.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assisting in gathering metrics for reports and other evaluation products. Verifying accuracy and completeness of information. Providing technical assistance and support services to management. Paying invoices in a timely manner and resolving issues as needed. GS-07 Education Substitution: Successful completion of one year of full-time graduate education from an accredited college or university may substitute for the experience required at this level. This education must demonstrate the skills necessary to do this job. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise a year of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 18 semester or 27 quarter hours. OR Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) may also substitute for the experience required at this level. SAA is defined as a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, having a class standing in the upper third of a graduating class or major subdivision, or membership in a national scholastic honor society. Combining Education and Experience at the GS-07 Grade Level: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify the grade level. Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Reviewing travel vouchers to ensure they are correct and complete; Submitting travel vouchers for reimbursement in accordance with federal travel regulation; Assisting in developing briefing, presentation, and conference materials for supervisors and executive management; Reviewing information and reconciling conflicting data GS-09 Education Substitution: A Master's degree, two full years of graduate education, a J.D. or an LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours. Combining Education and Experience at the GS-09 grade level: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify the grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify you for grade GS-09. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Please see the "Required Documents" section below for additional resume requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/26/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
