You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist in the Occupation Health Division (Code 1084) Safety Department (108) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will manage TRIREFFAC'S Hazardous Waste (HW) Managment Program which includes Radiological Nuclear Mixed waste, state and federally regulated hazardous waste, oil pollution prevention etc. You will serve as an advisor to the Command and is responsible for planning, developing and administering TRIREFFAC's comprehensive HW Management programs in accordance with the State of Georgia Department of Natural Resources. You will be responsible for the establishment and management of overall command wide comprehensive HW Management Program. You will develop and update HW and environmental related management plans and instructions. You will research current and proposed environmental legislation, laws and regulations for applicability to TRIREFFAC diversified industrial HW operations.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current IT-II Level certification.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience establishing programs and develops guidelines for the investigation, analysis, control, compliance, and improvement of environmental issues of concern. Experience adapting workable knowledge of Hazardous Material and Waste Management. Experience using techniques and methods needed to abate environmental discharges, emissions, and prevent pollution. Experience interpreting and applying 40CFR rules and regulations. Experience deducing and relating Georgia Natural Resources (GDNR) guidelines and procedures. Experience applying Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules and regulations to complete Compliance Inspections. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
