About the Position This position is located at Moncrief Army Health Clinic, Pathology Department - Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Duties
Performs phlebotomy duties, which include patient assessments and drawing blood specimens from patients of all age groups.
Prepares specimens for transportation to a laboratory.
Organizes and maintains a system for filing records, charts correspondence, and reports other information for the laboratory operation.
Receives specimens, and checking, preparing, and shipping specimens to reference laboratories.
Performs a variety of support work such as logging patient and test data into a computer, entering patient information into Medical Protection System (MEDPROS), and performing duties in support of the clinic.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Phlebotomy Certification is preferred but not required.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required (may be included with the BLS Certification).
- Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
- This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical duties for a laboratory, checking patients in for procedures, entering lab orders, maintaining a records system and performing blood collection procedures on patients of all ages.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS- 04.
OR
Education: Successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as Health Technician, Health Science, Health Services, Pathology, Phlebotomy, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
