The Phoenix VA Health Care System, Phoenix VA Medical Center (VAMC), is recruiting a full performance level Program Support Assistant to the Caregiver Support Program (CSP) for Social Work Service.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Provides support to the interdisciplinary Caregiver Support staff and program.
Requires excellent relational and communication skills.
Advanced knowledge of and experience with computers.
Oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with others, particularly military populations and Caregivers that provide assistance to these populations.
Have experience in working with a military Veteran population within a medical/psychiatric environment.
Have time management skills and a high level of judgement.
Independent of action, general latitude for decision making and knowledge of information sources concerning complex questions, policies and procedures within the Caregiver Support Program.
Assists the CSP Manager with critical administrative and clerical duties and coordinate administrative policies to assist staff with understanding and following care processes, regulations and service policies. Determines action needed by clinical staff, with action tracking, to ensure timely completion and resolution, and refers significant problems for resolution.
Establish and continually reviews, updates, and develops complex administrative procedures that affect the orderly and efficient flow of work with parties and services outside the facility.
Provide administrative, program and technical assistance in the areas of day-to-day operations.
Administratively supports all Caregiver Support Program Staff.
Analyzes financial information (e.g., expenditures & cash management) to ensure all operations are with budget, and forecasts future budget needs.
Prepare, consolidate & summarize budget recommendations for each budget cycle, with appropriate cost analysis, as required at the program level.
Functions as the Fund Control Point Clerk CSP, processing all requests for educational materials, office supplies, medical equipment and promotional materials as needed, maintaining/tracking inventory in accordance with VA policy.
Maintain and track program census, assists in the preparation of all program reports; assists in tracking program reviews, action items, quality measures, and the efficiency of the Caregiver Support Program.
Coordinate correspondence for the Caregiver Support Program and assists in the daily operation of the program, including keeping meeting minutes and attendance to staff meetings.
Provide a complete range of the program support which includes customer service and coordination; data analysis, special Caregiver Support Program projects, Caregiver Support Events, performance measure reporting and completes data from the CARMA Tracking System, VA and VISN 22 to meet the goals of the program guidelines.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

Physical Requirements: The work requires no special physical demands. The work is sedentary and does not involve any abnormal risks or discomforts. It may involve some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items such as papers, files, or small parts etc.

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Responsible for providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; answering telephones, referring visitors, and providing information.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
