About the Position: This position is in the DHA Administration and Management Directorate (J-1), Headquarters Support Division, Asset Management with an established duty location of Falls Church, VA. This position may be eligible for situational or ad-hoc telework only, at the discretion of management. Recruitment incentive may be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Salary negotiation may be available for those highly qualified candidates who are new to Federal Service.

Duties

Participate in the development and integration of logistics applications to improve the effectiveness of Defense Health Agency Logistics processes and improve command and control and logistics decision making at all levels. Plan, organize, and conduct assessments and analyses to identify and resolve deployment and distribution related logistics problems. Provide expertise in the functional area of transportation to ensure appropriate integration with other logistics management functions. Provide logistics guidance and assist in advising DHA decision makers of potential logistics problems and projected impacts on readiness deployability, strategic and tactical mobility, supportability and their impact on DHA capabilities. Review and assess logistics operational shortfalls and identify opportunities for improvement in the logistics processes. Conduct briefings, maintain liaison and participate in conferences and/or working groups for matters relating to DHA logistics and readiness systems. Prepare recommendations, assessments proposals, tasking statements, study directives, or requests for contractual support to correct discrepancies, resolve deployment and distribution related logistics problems, and/or analyze readiness programs. Order, purchase and distribute administrative supplies, furniture, and non-automation data processing equipment (ADPE) inventory items from a variety of mandatory and non-mandatory sources. Serve as a hand receipt manager or Accountability Property Officer responsible for a range of equipment. Function as Task Manager/Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for contracts.

  • This position is designated as moderate risk involving Public Trust. Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation including a credit check to determine suitability for Federal employment and/or the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) conducting analysis of deployment and distribution logistical programs and operations; (2) assisting in the analysis of short- and long-range logistical needs; and (3) providing recommendations to improve logistical procedures or policies for maintenance, supply, or transportation operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
