This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of Insular and International Affairs, Office of International Affairs, International Technical Assistance Program (ITAP), Washington, DC. The Office of the Secretary has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

Duties

At the full performance level GS-11 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1) Oversees and manages all travel preparations for ITAP travelers; preparing travel authorizations and vouchers for ITAP trips, preparing flight itineraries, processing tickets, and reserving hotel rooms. 2) Evaluates office procedures and identifies, recommends, and implements changes to administrative processes relevant to travel and events management. 3) Advises International Affairs staff on procedures, regulations, and practices relevant to travel and events coordination. 4) Develops detailed responses to travel and budget related inquiries from Project Managers, Departmental Representatives and Donor Agencies. 5) Oversees and maintains a variety of electronic and paper files. 6) Trains interns and/or detailees temporarily assigned travel-related duties on all aspects of travel preparation, logistics, and expense reports/vouchers. 7) Responsible for management of DOI-ITAP corporate credit card, reconciliation of charges and ensuring that all charges are reallocated to correct accounts. Salary Information GS-11: $82,764 - $107,590 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet A, B, or C below. A. Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-11, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) advising office staff on travel regulations and policies for domestic and foreign travel; 2) utilizing electronic travel systems to prepare travel documents and research complex cases; 3) utilizing and reconciling a government charge card program to support official and invitational travel operations; 4) communicating time-sensitive and complex details to a variety of audiences for successful execution of travel and events; and 5) presenting training on all aspects of travel preparation, logistics, and expense reports/vouchers. MUST MEET ALL. -OR- B. Education: Possession of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED); -OR- C. Combination: A combination of specialized experience and education that totals 100% of the requirement. Combination of graduate level education beyond the first two years of progressive graduate study and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
