Position is located at Gallup Indian Medical Center, Dietary Branch, Gallup, New Mexico. The incumbent is responsible for a wide array of tasks in the organization including the execution of all diet orders, meals, and snack orders received from the nursing units, Registered Dietitians (RD) and physicians on staff. Also responsible for oral supplements, stocking, inventory, cardex data and distribution via physician, RD, and or nursing orders. The position reports to the Supervisory Dietitian

Duties

Data collection for patients regarding the nutritional support of patients to provide appropriate nutrition. Obtains and maintains accurate data for patient identification cards are completed with appropriate information and instructions for each patient that will receive a meal tray. Provides statistical information on such areas as late trays, patient meals served, modified diet census, etc. Assist in other areas of the kitchen including, but not exclusive to the dish-room, catching, tray line loading and late tray set up, attending the cash register when required.

Physical Effort: Care in lifting items is required - bending from the knees per lifting policy. Frequent lifting is required - moving objects up to 40lbs. i.e., lifting cases of adult formula and stocking shelves, lifting cases of tray covers for holidays, handling racks in the dish-room. Some walking and standing is required. Sitting is required for approximately 70% of the time. Work Conditions: Work area is generally clean and warm. Area can be noisy and at times too warm or cool. When in the kitchen area there is a chance for slipping, minor cuts, bruises, burns, etc. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
