Qualifications

In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below:
To qualify for the GS-11 level, you must have one of the following:
1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level defined as assisting in the development and analysis of mathematical models for the evaluation of research program; and communicating research results and findings in written reports;
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree; or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; the education must be directly related and provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
equivalent combination of education and experience
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level defined as providing technical expertise and guidance to others on research methodologies, analysis and interpretation of mathematical models evaluating research programs; and communicating research results and findings in written reports to senior leadership.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of mathematical theories and techniques; 2) Ability to implement guidelines associated with statistical modeling; 3) Skill in quantitative and qualitative analyses; 4) Knowledge of statistical processes and methodologies; 5) Skill in written communication sufficient to provide recommendations; 6) Skill in oral communication sufficient to provide guidance; 7) Ability to present technical materials.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.
You must have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics; OR a combination of education and experience that include 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.
