THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AHA-FAMILY VIOLENCE & ABUSE PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF), Position Description Number T0030P01 and is part of the KS Joint Forces Headquarters, National Guard.
Duties
As a FAMILY VIOLENCE AND ABUSE PREVENTION SPECIALIST, GS-0101-12, you will act as subject matter expert (SME) on IPP as applied to family violence and abuse prevention. Advances policies outside of the existing, but not limited to, Human Resources, Judge Advocate, Family Advocacy and Family Readiness Program offices for equities specific to Family Violence and Abuse primary prevention. Facilitates dialogue between state programs, divisions, directorates, and other areas to capture existing upstream drivers and measures relevant to the primary prevention of family violence and abuse. Maintains insight into the National Guard Bureau (NGB) IPP office to track efforts, measurements, and councils. Supports engagement in existing state tools and programs. Establishes measures of effectiveness in the primary prevention of family violence and abuse. Consults with and obtains consensus with NGB IPP SME cell. Supports the Joint Force Headquarters' (JFHQ) Primary Prevention Officer in the development and execution of The Adjutant General's (TAG) primary prevention strategic plan. Assists IPP Officer, TAG, Assistant TAG, directorate, and division-level Leadership with data-informed decisions to appropriately resource Family Violence and Abuse primary prevention activities and requirements throughout the state. Establishes, revises, and reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organizational design to eliminate barriers to mission accomplishment.
Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.
Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK"
The position under this announcement is being filled using the National Guard Accelerated Hiring Authority (NG AHA). Selection will be made through a process without applying traditional competitive rating and ranking procedures and where interviews are optional. Merit factors shall be the basis for selection. Merit factors are determined by the individuals' ability to perform the duties of the position. Merit is based on such factors as previous work experience, education, abilities, and competencies. In order to be referred, applicant must meet all general, specialized and education requirements of the position.
Veterans Preference: Veterans' preference does not apply when referring and selecting individuals under this NG accelerating hiring authority; however, applicants are encouraged to still claim veterans preference and submit supporting documentation.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. The incumbent of theis position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
- May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain required certifications, as applicable.
- Position designated as Essential and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
This position requires the following:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.
OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.
OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience that equips the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Must be able to Maintains an understanding of existing Family support and readiness policies and the working dynamics between primary prevention and response. Must act as subject matter expert (SME) on IPP as applied to family violence and abuse prevention. Are you able to advances policies outside of the existing, but not limited to, Human Resources, Judge Advocate, Family Advocacy and Family Readiness Program offices for equities specific to Family Violence and Abuse primary prevention.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Physical Demands: Regurlar and recurring work is performed sitting at a desk operating office equipment, except for visits to military and non-military facilities, conferences, meetings, briefings and seminars. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Environment: Work is permed both in a normal office setting and in unit areas or installations and communities. Work involves everday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as office, training and meeting rooms, etc. Areas used typically have adequate lighting, heating and ventilation.
