About the Position: This position is with the 9th Mission Support Command, Family Coordinator Office located at Fort Shafter Flats, Hawaii.

Duties

Serve as staff action officer for Family Advocacy Program. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs to make recommendations to resolve deficiencies and improve capabilities. Identify program resource requirements and provide budget input. Research to prepare fact sheets, information papers, memorandums, briefings, and other correspondence concerning the Family Advocacy Program. Draft memorandums to facilitate transition and handoff of cases between organizations. Develop and publicize information about a variety of Family Advocacy Program related topics and available services. Identify personnel who would benefit from Family Advocacy Staff Training (FAST) and develop training resources to meet program needs. Develop and execute training programs to provide the organization with information on Family Advocacy Program policies and procedures. Analyze Family Advocacy Program implementation throughout the organization. Foster relationships with the community and other organizations to provide soldiers access to support resources. Advise senior leadership on the effectiveness of the Family Advocacy Program. Conduct staff assistance visits to subordinate commands and supported units.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement To qualify for this position, you must meet a basic requirement in addition to the qualification requirement. The basic requirement for this position is: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology or Counseling. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Minimum Qualifications In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing assistance, training or information to staff, soldiers, family members, civilians and/or community to address behavioral or social concerns; maintaining cooperative relationships to ensure delivery of Family Advocacy Program services; and ensuring compliance with Family Advocacy Program policy, law, and/or regulation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Psychology or Counseling. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingInterpersonal SkillsTechnical CompetenceWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
