You will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Commander, Navy Region Northwest of COMMANDER, NAVY REGION NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will respond to requests for information from the media in written or oral form. You will develop and execute communication plans ensuring messages are relayed relative to an organization's mission. You will brief news media representatives and variety of publics on the organization's programs and activities to increase public understanding of the agency's mission.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Develops and writes information materials designed to reach regional and local audiences through the news media; 2) Responds to media and public queries on a regular basis and during times of crisis; and 3) Distributes public affairs products in response to events, media, and community relations. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented in your resume to be considered for this position. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
