You will serve as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Leader, Production Division, Public Works Department Crane, of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic.
Duties
You will apply knowledge and skill in the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration.
You will diagnose, locate and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating, ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC).
You will disassemble and repair repairing a variety of components including compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling coils, air handlers, bearings, water control valves, air dampers, etc.
You will lubricate moving parts and replaces air filters, v belts, electrical motors, pulleys, sheaves, bearings, fan shafts, etc.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CFC/HFC Certification (Universal) as required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may be considered Essential and the incumbent will be required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during, and/or after emergency situations, disasters, or periods of increased security threat.
- You may at any time be reassigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area.
- You may be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.
- You may be required to serve as an on-call duty mechanic on a rotational basis, required to carry a duty cell phone and/or pager and must main available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.
