You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) of NAVWPNSTA.

Duties

You will administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED) for a patient. You will operate firefighting equipment (e.g., pumps, foam generators, boom, ground sweep nozzles) to control or eliminate fires. You will establish on-scene control procedures (e.g., zone control, decontamination) in a hazardous material incident. You will position firefighting vehicles in consideration of external factors (e.g., wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, location of armament on aircraft).

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

FOR GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Operating specialized firefighting equipment to control or extinguish fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents and reacting to releases or potential releases of hazardous materials as part of the initial response to the incident site to protect nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of a release; 5) Appling basic emergency medical techniques, including patient assessment, patient treatment, rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and noninvasive medical procedures; and 6) Driving and Operating various firefighting vehicle/apparatus and support equipment.** NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION. GS-07: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following Certifications: Firefighter I/II,D/O Pumper, Hazmat Operation, State or NREMT, and CPR. D/O Mobile Water Supply, D/O Aerial, NREMT, and Marine Firefighter will be required within one year of hire. These certifications must have been awarded by DOD, IFSAC or Pro-board to meet the requirement. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted upon selection to verify eligibility. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, and provide verification with your application, you will be rated ineligible. FOR GS-06 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Operating specialized firefighting equipment to control or extinguish fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents; and 5) Driving and operating firefighting vehicles: and 6) Operating emergency communications equipment to answer, record, and dispatch fire or specialized crews to routine, urgent, and emergency situations. **NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION.
