You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire and Emergency Services Department of NAVAL WEAPONS STATION YORKTOWN.

Duties

You will Advise on training guidelines for the use of firefighting equipment, procedures, and techniques. You will Operate fire communication equipment to maintain communication during emergency operations. You will Develop corrective action to solve or correct fire accidents, occupational deaths, injuries, illnesses and exposures within the fire department. You will prepare fire reports and approve fire reports in ESAMS. You will supervise subordinates assigned to the shift. You will be responsible for maintaining adequate supplies and equipment. You will prepare and issue performance appraisal for subordinates You will perform Basic Life Support emergency medical services and respond to all type of emergencies.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds in addition to wearing protective clothing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 Supervisory Captain grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector." Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing emergency medical response, hazardous materials response, confined space response, high angle response, water rescue response and structural firefighting, 2) Maintain accurate records and perform employee timekeeping activities 3) Prepare fire reports, and approve fire reports 4) Completing accident reports, 5) providing guidance on procedures of fire prevention and life safety practices. Must possess the following certifications: Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, Hazmat IC, CPR, EVOC, NREMT. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).
