This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, located in the Executive Secretariat under the Office of the Chief of Staff. Working under the direction of the Director, Public Programs and Special Events, the incumbent will have primary responsibility for coordinating and managing National Archives conference space and developing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and overseeing special programs and events at the National Archives Building in Washington, DC.
Duties
As an EVENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST, you will:
Handle requests, schedule space and maintain calendars, for the use of conference space at the National Archives building by staff members, other Federal agencies, and the private sector.
Assist the Director, Public Programs and Special Events in developing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and overseeing special events including ceremonies for Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights Days, and meetings and events for the Archivist of the United States events.
Provide logistical support for events, prepare contracts, and track events budgets, and prepare written materials, including invitations, thank you letters, and copy for the Calendar of Events and other publications.
Prepare materials for meetings, produce announcements, make follow-up phone calls, prepare, and disseminate event materials.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement special events for the public and targeted groups, including logistics, protocol, facilities set-up, advertising, security, customer service.; AND
Work with diverse groups of people, such as Agency and other federal agency staff, community groups, Government officials, and the public, on a one-on-one basis as well as in teams.; AND
Communicate effectively and accurately orally and in writing with all levels in an organization and with internal and external stakeholders of a special event.
OR
EDUCATION: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
NOTE: If qualifying on a combination of education and experience, only education beyond the first 2 years of graduate studies can be used as qualifying.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09level for 52 weeks.
