You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager in the Institutional Safety and Quality Branch, Institutional Division, Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Directorate, at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). As the Safety Manager responsible for forming partnerships to further safety and occupational health, you will advise management on the assignment of personnel to ensure appropriate Agency, Program, Center, and contract SMA requirements are followed.
Duties
Develops safety policy and procedural guidelines at Kennedy Space Center.
Designs and implements safety organizational structure to attain program goals, identify cost savings, and build a strong, effective safety program.
Oversees safety programs at Kennedy Space Center, assessing their effectiveness.
Coordinates plans and needs of safety programs with management and integrates the work of the team into the overall needs of the organization and management's plan for achieving them.
Prepares reports and maintains records of work accomplishments and supporting information.

Requirements
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

- This is a bargaining unit position - American Federation of Government Employees – Local 513.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
advising and providing guidance to management to ensure safety project goals and requirements are met within scheduled timeframes;
interpreting or applying safety principles, laws, regulations, and/or precedent decisions to aid in the resolution of safety problems; and
serving as a primary review/evaluator to ensure compliance with OSHA, NASA, or other federal regulations such as NPR 8715.1, KNPR 8715.3, KNPR 8715.7, 29 CFR 1960, 29 CFR 1926, 29 CFR 1910.
