The primary purpose of this position is to provide munitions supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique munitions, explosives, and components requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other explosives that are unique to the organization's mission or are seldom handled.

Duties

Conducts extensive searches for preparing recurring and special reports pertaining to complex and/or unusual munitions transactions and patterns. Provides munitions supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for munitions, explosives and/or components requiring special handling. Determines explosive levels, performs administrative office support for non-recurring munitions, inventories, project/seasonal demands and maintains cooperative working relationships with members/operating officials with changing customer needs and projected depletion. Responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective Key Control Program IA W AFMAN 21-200; and as focal point for maintaining the key, lock, and cylinder program within the Munitions Flight.

  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, On-Call duties.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
  • As required, may train and/or guide other personnel in performance of munitions operations/control duties.
  • Knowledge of Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System/Agile Munitions Support Tool and munitions operations/control programs desired.
  • Knowledge of munitions safety procedures, proper handling, management and disposal of hazardous munition wastes and materials, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of DESR 6055.09_AFMAN 91-201, Explosive Safety Standards, and DAFM 31 series Resource Protection Program requirements is highly desirable.
  • Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties. May be required to carry an authorized firearm.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. (Cond't)

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Position, Supply Clerical and Technician Series 2005. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough and extensive knowledge of governing munitions accountability/control operations regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of local munitions operations/control requirements to ensure munitions support for customers. Knowledge of a wide range of established munitions operations principles, concepts, and methods involving property accounting, base and higher headquarters munitions supply policies and procedures, inspection, munitions maintenance, and methods of preparing and maintaining munitions supply property records and documents for manual accounting procedures. Shall have knowledge of automated munitions supply Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System and Agile Munitions Support Tool (TICMS/ AMST) procedures, munitions requisitioning, reporting, inventorying, custody account operations, and issue procedures. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Know ledge of governing munitions regulations, procedures, and instructions. Knowledge of munitions operations and control functions, program requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of Air Force Munition Command and Control (AFMC2), Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System (TICMS) computer systems and program requirements. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. Know ledge of automated and physical filing systems and procedures and understands information being filed. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
