This position is located in Housing within the Facility Management Department, within the Division of Administrative Services at Crownpoint Health Care Facility, Crownpoint, New Mexico. Incumbent performs work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related fixtures and utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices; Plumbing, Carpentry, Equipment Repair Painting, and Electrical.

Duties

Modifies plumbing equipment such as sinks, lavatories, bathtubs, showers and hot water heaters. Removes, replaces, tightens, splices, solders, and insulates defective wiring, controls, equipment and fixtures such as broken and bare wiring, burned out switches and relays, loose connections and fittings, damaged light fixtures, etc. Erects minor new structures and modifies existing structures. Uses hand and power tools and equipment of the various trades listed above when performing the various trade duties. Mixes and blends paints. Determines type and amount of oil or water point, lacquer. enamel, varnish, or primer needed, giving consideration to weather, climatic exposure conditions, and texture, and composition of surf aces to be painted. Receives oral or written assignments from Housing Manager which may be accompanied by sketches, drawings or blueprints.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
