The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as a Pass & Registration Assistant, processing various security related documentation to generate restricted area badges into secured areas and issuance of identification credentials for contractors as well as vetting all non-DoD individuals requiring access to the installation.
Duties
Processes applications and issues identification cards, controlled and restricted area badges, vehicle registration, and temporary passes to eligible personnel.
Processes standard requests for Personnel Security Investigations (PSIs).
Maintains controlled forms.
Performs fingerprinting for new and updated security clearances and other clerical support.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, or the GS-0086, Security Clerical and Assistance Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes security principles, regulatory provisions, rules, regulations, directives, DoD suitability criteria, procedures and operations to perform such duties as managing the base Visitor Control Center to support controlling, issuing and accounting for restricted area badges and process a wide variety of standard ID cards, contractor access badges or other forms of base access authorization; general clerical office procedures.

EDUCATION: I have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of experience as described in the job opportunity announcement and education. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions.
2. Knowledge of personnel security clearances, investigation processes/procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorization documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits, or other forms of authorization.
3. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; support office and security operations; and produce a variety of documents and reports.
4. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects while communicating effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy
5. Ability to learn and maintain specific information technology systems that have high visibility from base leaders; and be able to troubleshoot those systems.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
