THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This ND National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D2325000/D2240P01 and is part of the ND 119 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, National Guard.

Duties

As an Electronic Integrated systems Mechanic, you will install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems. Solves complex problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems. Adjusts and aligns system sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, transponders, actuators, servos, computers and other related components. Reviews and analyzes maintenance data; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or data corrections.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the ND National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the ND National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposition is mandatory.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must complete hazmat certification within six months of appointment and complete hazmat recertification every two years.

Qualifications

PCS STATEMENT: PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION COSTS WILL NOT BE PAID FOR THIS POSITION. MILITARY GRADES: TSgt COMPATIBILE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 2A3X5 QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Light to moderate physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasional objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Mechanics are required to stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods of time on concrete or composition floors and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Heavy lifting is accomplished with assistance. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant mustpossess the knowledge to perform duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes; 1) Ability to collect and analyze data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; 2) able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material; and 3) ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Specialized Experience WG 12: Applicant must possess a Three-Skill Level in one of the compatible AFSCs, and at least 12 months of specialized experience, which includes: 1) ability to repair, align, and adjust major integrated electronic systems such as inertial navigation system, automatic flight control, or fire control system; 2) knowledge of the application of electronic theories and practices to one or more complex integrated systems such as fire control, inertial navigation, or automatic landing control systems; 3) Ability to follow drawings for integrated electronic systems such as radar navigation systems which integrate terrain information from the radar, pitch, roll, and turn rate, etc. from sensing devices and actuate control relays; and 4) Ability to diagnose and determine needed repairs for malfunctions in electronics systems such as weapons control where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace back through a number of units of the system to locate the deficiency. Specialized Experience WG 13: Applicant must possess at least a Seven-Skill Level in one of the compatible AFSCs, and at least 12 monthsof specialized experience in the WG-2610-12 level, 1) experience which demonstrates of knowledge and skills to repair, overhaul, rebuild, align, and adjust complete multi-systems such as the electronics package in a highly automated aircraft where target acquisition and tracking, weapons control, aircraft attitude control, navigation, and other complex functions are performed by numerous systems which are extensively interconnected with data feedback loops; 2) Ability to isolate malfunctions of complete multiple integrated systems consisting of closely interrelated fire control, bombing navigation, flight control, countermeasures or similar systems; and 3) knowledge of all electronic, mechanical, and or optical systems and units. You must also possess the experience, training or education to support your claim for the competency statements listed within the assessment questionnaire. Education

In order to qualify as a WG-12 - The mandatory military training requirements are the completion of an Air Force Three Skill Level Technical Training School and successful On-the-Job training that will result or resulted in the award of a compatible Five Skill Level AFSC.NOTE: In order to be considered for this position as a WG-12, applicants must submit their Technical School Certificate(s) OR a form of validation of the appropriate Technical School attendance OR their Official RIP to verify the Three Skill Level.

In order to qualify as a WG-13, you must have successful completion of at least one military professional education course program. NOTE: In order to be considered for this position as a WG-13, applicants must submit proof of completion of at least one military professional education course program.
