This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Commandant, Vice Commandant, Assistant Commandant for Intelligence (CG-2), Intelligence Coordination Center (ICC), Strategic Intelligence Department, Analysis Division, National Maritime Intelligence Center, Suitland, Maryland.

Duties

You will serve as a senior intelligence analyst for the Commanding Officer, conducting research, analysis, and liaison work with other intelligence and law enforcement agencies on topics of relevance to the Coast Guard (CG).Typical work assignments include:

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.
  • Selective Service Registration is required.
  • Must be able to complete a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
  • A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • This position is subject to pre-appointment polygraph testing.
  • A Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph is required.

Qualifications

At the GS-14 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal sector.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work such as:  Acquiring information through extensive means and alerting senior agency staff and command members to issues of or developments of special urgency or importance; Analyzing the validity, accuracy, and reliability of information received from a wide variety of sources; Preparing written contributions to interagency intelligence assessments, preparing and advocating agency position on controversial or disputed issues; Establishing key international liaison to obtain critical sources of operations intelligence; Serving as supervisor, team leader, or technical lead. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
