About the position: This position will be assigned to the NAF Accounting Office.

Duties
Serves as the senior accounting technician for all Southwest Asia deployed locations. Performs a full range of accounting duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods. Classified and verifies a wide variety of accounting documents in order to assure their mathematical correctness, Completeness of information, and to prepare control sheets with appropriate accounting codes. Maintains double-entry bookkeeping journals and subsidiary ledges, posting entries to establish accounts. Prepares monthly balances, reconciles accounts, and transcribes to general ledger for close out of all accounts. Traces discrepancies, if necessary, to posting documents, computer operational expenses incurred by individual activities for accounting services provided, and assigns charges appropriately. Reports prepared may include profit and loss statements, financial statements, and miscellaneous financial reporting data. Analyzes data for prior, current, and our year in planning/preparing rolling four quarter NAF budgets. Develops cash flow and the long range capital improvement plan (LCIP), and reviews/drafts statements for justifying funding requests. Reviews funding requests for compliance with rules, regulations, and procedures. Provides advice, assistance and guidance on budgeting and related information and conducts analyses, reviews and special studies of budget and/or related information. Conducts NAF and budget related training of organizational personnel on budget processes, procedures, requirements, etc. evaluates results for possible effect on program plans and funding. Supervises NAF employees. Structures assignments,; assigns work: establishes work priorities and deadlines; schedules and grants leave; provides training, and decides on formal training needs. Provides proper guidance and directions, continuous feedback on strengths and weaknesses and holds employees responsible for satisfactory completion of work assignments. Appraised performance using appropriate rewards and corrective actions.

Qualifying Experience:
Have experience in work which provided comprehensive knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures used in maintaining and analyzing all classes of accounts in accounting system encompassing a number of diversified activities; ability to prepare financial settlements and reports. Knowledge and understanding of the regulations, guides, and precedents sufficient to interpret and apply them in a variety of accounting situations. Knowledge of the accounting system sufficient to follow individual funds and specific monies from initiation through expenditure stages in order to trace discrepancies in the system.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
