The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in Logistics Directorate, National Air and Space Museum (NASM). NASM collects, preserves, studies and exhibits artifacts, archival materials, and works of art related to the history, culture and science of aviation, spaceflight and the study of the universe. It's research and outreach activities serve audiences within and beyond its walls.
Duties
The Safety and Occupational Health Manager is responsible for developing, planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating a safety and occupational health program for the museum.

Qualifications
GS-13 Experience:
You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position, specialized experience is defined as managing a comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health program in a public collections-based facility for both staff and public operations, including all of the following: 1) Implementing safety and occupational health programs, policies, and practices; 2) Identifying and abating of hazards for staff, members of the public, and collections items; 3) Writing policy and establishing enterprise-wide safety goals and priorities; 4) Coordinating and conducting safety inspections and risk analysis related to collections management and scientific facilities; 5) Developing safety education activities and conducting training to achieve a safe working environment.

Education
There is no education substitution for specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level for this position.
