The incumbent is responsible for inventory management, performing such primary duties that include meeting with the Contracting Officer, Veterinary Services (VS) customers, and vendors on inventory issues. The Supply Technician also acts as a resource on item specification, makes recommendations on handling stock items and shipping, and continuously monitors warehouse, vendor, and contractor's performance.

Duties

The duties may include, but are not limited to: Responsible for receipting material(s) and equipment received from different activities into inventory record. Uses warehouse management system, data managements systems, Animal Identification Number Management System (AINS) or similar supply systems. Inspects material for damage and completes initial documentation to report any discrepancies. Visually and physically examines items verifying stock numbers, nomenclature, type, size, condition, quantity, serial numbers, and markings to ascertain compliance with established standards. Reviews stock items status to determine quantity required to maintain proper supply support to VS Area Offices Provides supervisor with management data required for internal presentations and briefings. Develops report specifications to meet field requirements. Reviews stock items status to determine quantity required to maintain proper supply support to VS Area Offices.

Requirements

  • You must be a US Citizen or US National.

  • The work is sedentary and periodical inspections of incoming stock, which involves climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting in climates that vary to hot, cold, and dirty.
  • Work is performed in an office and warehouse.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level) that demonstrates: Making presentations to top management or community officials and professional groups on a wide variety of topics. Providing written reports and memorandums for dissemination to leadership. Presenting the implementation or change of policy, rules or regulations. Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of data entered in databases and on-line systems, identifying errors/inconsistencies and making necessary corrections. Assisting others in the tracking and reconciling of inventory items. Ensuring purchase and receipt of property are recorded properly. Moving and retrieving data from different database systems and importing and exporting data to update databases, formulate ad hoc reports, etc. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
