About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
Duties
Administrative and Management Assistance: Plans, controls, and maintains the time, schedule, and calendar of events for the Battalion Command Group.
Prioritizes, sets up, de-conflicts, reschedules, and makes final arrangements for a wide variety of appointments.
Analyzes the criticality of issues and the necessary staff involvement to manage the Command Group’s time in the most efficient manner.
Programs and schedules briefings and decision meetings by members of the staff for the Command Group, preparing an agenda and attendance list.
Provides office support for correspondence, mail, and records management.
Operates office automation equipment utilizing appropriate of software to generate and edit a variety of correspondence, documents, charts, and reports.
Prepares and coordinates travel arrangements for the Command Group to include travel orders, billeting reservations, air and ground transportation, office call requests, formal travel itineraries, and final travel vouchers for reimbursement.
Monitors and maintains a suspense system for all assigned tasks. Coordinates with internal and external staff offices to facilitate the integration of all the details associated with travel and trip planning.
Office Automation: Types, prepares, receives, reviews and assembles a wide variety of command correspondence, reporting, and presentation documentation in support of command interest and mission areas.
Provides technical and administrative guidance on a variety of functions in support of administration, to include office automation programs, such as MS Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
Distributes information to the office personnel concerning policies, plans, procedures, methods, and actions of an administrative nature.
Must be knowledgeable of, and apply the content of, all Army and Command correspondence regulations.
Performs as the Battalion’s Organizational Defense Travel Administrator (ODTA).
Requires an in-depth practical knowledge of the DTS gained through experience in dealing with the program and the regulations, guidelines, and policies established to administer.
Serves as the alternate Automated Time and Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS) timekeeper.
Assisting with resolving employee pay related issues before they arise by ensuring all employees enter proper time in the automated timecard system when the primary timekeeper is absent.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Must be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance granted off an Access National Agency Check with Inquiries (ANACI) investigation.
- Position is designated as a Non-Critical Sensitive-Position with IT Level III ADP duties as a basic user on department of defense networked devices.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Experience on a variety of functions in support of administration, to include office automation programs, such as MS Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Defense Travel System knowledge and experience as well as timekeeping and payroll experience.
Education
One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Clerical and Administrative Support.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
