You will serve as a WORK AND FAMILY LIFE SPECIALIST in the FLEET AND FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER of NAS JAX.

Duties

You will identify family and single service member issues, trends, needs, and priorities to propose new programs. You will instruct training and seminars to address career transition issues and interests. You will advise customers on transition support services (e.g., career, transition, interviewing skills, resume writing, job applications). You will determine client needs through interview and assessment of client financial information and history. You will implement work and family service plans to meet short and long-range program goals. You will evaluate the effectiveness of existing prevention and family training or workshops and make recommendations for improvement. You will serve as the principal advisor and authority on matters impacting CAPS programs. You will serve as the Family Advocacy Representative (FAR). You will serve as a member of the Incident Determination Committee (IDC) and present all cases to the IDC. You will serve as the Chair of the Clinical Case Staff Meeting (CCSM).

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interacting with individuals, and families; 2) Conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns and issues; 3) Providing assistance in developing goals and plans, and determining appropriate referral services and options; 4) Working with social service delivery systems in the community and gaining knowledge of individual policies and procedures to establish agreements; and 5) Provides and/or coordinates the CAP services, including intake, work load distribution, assessments, case management, liaison, outreach/marketing, education, and partnerships.NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.


Specialized Experience for the GS-09 may be substituted with the following education:
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
master's or equivalent graduate degree
