This position is located in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs (EAP/FO). The incumbent works closely with three other staff assistants and the supervisor to provide the Assistant Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary's, substantive administrative support, impacting the overall effectiveness, and productivity of the EAP Bureau, and ensures an efficient and timely flow of briefing materials.

Duties

Develops, administers, and implements internal management plans, procedures, directions, and practices to ensure efficient operation of various administrative processes. Meticulously edits and proofreads documents to ensure adherence to established templates, while enhancing style and substance for communication effectiveness. Coordinates the flow of documents and taskings into and out of the Front Office and tracks and monitors the status of memoranda and correspondence within the Bureau. Serves as the Front Office contact on paper processing procedures, providing internal and external communication and coordination with bureau staff and the interagency community on projects that are of direct interest to the Assistant Secretary.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires shift work.
  • Must be available for overtime.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.  NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience organizing and controlling documents and correspondence.  - Experience conducting detailed research and analysis of data in response to complex and politically sensitive requests. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
