Duties
You will serve as a Materials Handler in the Aviation Support Department, Component Control Section of the Strike Fighter Wing, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
You will independently perform a complete range of receiving and storage assignments.
You will organize and coordinate receiving and storage operations as well as selection, assembly, staging and shipping activities.
You will unload incoming shipments using common hand tools and different kinds of complex materials handling equipment, either multi-functional or greater than 10,000 pounds capacity.
You will direct segregation of items as necessary.
You will annotate and sign receiving and other control documents, verifying items listed match items received.
You will ensure appropriate authority are advised of materials having serious discrepancies.
You will build pallet loads to facilitate storage, utilizing banding, stretch wraps or other appropriate methods to secure materials.
You will input receipt and storage information into automated record systems.
You will transport or forward materials from receiving areas to storage locations.
You will match, check, and compare data on storage instruments with materials to be stored against materials already in storage locations.
You will store, stack and/or rotate materials under first in first out (FIFO) concept using common hand tools and complex, difficult to maneuver multi-functional materials handling equipment often exceeding 10,000 pound capacity.
You will perform quality reviews of storage operations.
You will match, check, and compare data on selection instruments against materials to be issued or shipped.
You will process outgoing shipments into Electronic Retrograde Management System (ERMS), including creating 1348 shipping document, shipping manifests, and posting Proof of Shipment.
You will coordinate shipments with carriers to ensure timely pickup and delivery.
You will maintain issue and shipping records.
You will comply with established safety, environmental, equipment use and security requirements.
You will instruct and guide lower level employees in specific tasks and in standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a valid government operator’s license for 1/2 ton pickup truck, 2-1/2 ton stake truck and a 3,000 pound capacity forklift.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
