You will serve as a Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanic, Production Division, Public Works Department Great Lakes, of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic.

Duties

You will apply knowledge and skills of the boiler plant equipment mechanic trade as applicable to power boiler plants. You will apply broad knowledge of mechanical principles applicable to complex and heavy machinery of all types. You will use blueprints, sketches, sample specifications, and oral or written instructions to complete work. You will install, troubleshoot, align, balance, and repair a wide range of industrial machinery and equipment including pumps, fans, boiler burners, dampers, conveyors, and valves. You will maintain, repair, and adjust hydraulics, turbine governors, pressure relief valves, coal and ash handling equipment, bag houses, and air compressors.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to receive confined space training prior to assuming duties that require entry to a confined space.
