Employee will serve as a Transportation Assistant and Fund Control Point Clerk within the Beneficiary Travel Program location at the Veterans Healthcare Administration in White City, OR.
Duties

Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:
Determines eligibility for Beneficiary Travel Program and processes travel requests.
Determines method of payment for authorized and unauthorized ambulance claims submitted for consideration.
Receives and reviews invoices for payment of transportation services.
Investigates authorizations, orders, and/or utilizes a patient record computer system and databases to review medical records and submits all documents for payment.
Acts as liaison between vendors and Fiscal Service for invoices pending payment.
Writes or selects appropriate letters explaining disposition of unauthorized travel claims.
Explains regulatory guidelines to beneficiaries.
Balances, reconciles, and adjusts invoices for payment.
Documents and prepares statistical reports for fiscal year budget.
Maintains and controls a filing system in accordance with regulations.
Arranges all modes of transportation via air ambulance, commercial air, taxi, ambulance, bus and/or independent transports.
Prepares appropriate documentation and/or scheduling for traveler according to government rates, etc.
Secures reservations and tickets from carriers.
Communicates and interacts with patients in a manner which is appropriate to cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation needs of the adult and/or geriatric patient.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes coordinating and scheduling patient transportation services, determining travel eligibility/entitlement and arranging best mode of transportation; reviewing patient transportation claims for eligibility and reimbursement; maintaining and reconciling accounting records; and working with multiple computer technology, software and databases to enter data, prepare various correspondence and reports.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work requires no special physical demands, but will require some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending, or sitting.
The employee will be working in an office setting. Due to the stressful situations resulting from dealing with irate, intoxicated, physically and /or mentally ill patients, the incumbent must possess emotional and mental stability as well as the ability to effectively cope with and manage daily stress.
