Duties
Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and/or systems modifications based on official guidance.
Inspects new patient care medical equipment to include receipt, inventory of parts, accessories, assembly, inspection, calibration, performance verification parts replacement and documentation.
Serves as an adviser for special projects involving the installation, service and repair of highly complex medical equipment and systems.
Communicates with clinical staff to aid and in-service training, setup, calibration, operation, and application of Patient Care Equipment.
Resolves complex electrical/electronic computer operating systems, mechanical, physical and/or chemical components of medical equipment and systems.
Evaluates, installs, maintains, diagnoses, repairs, calibrates, and/or tests medical electronic equipment/systems used at a Medical Treatment Facility
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position may include shift work which may require the incumbent to be on call.
- Incumbent must possess a valid civilian/military driver's license and may be required to obtain a military/commercial driver’s license for heavy or special purpose vehicles.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which installing, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and/or testing specialized medical electronic equipment/radiological systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
